Exporting data
The TARGET system provides a simple method for exporting prospect
data to other systems. First, of course, you must decide how you
are going to select the prospects to be exported. If you need
help with this part of the project, please see the page on the
prospect list generator for instructions.
Once you have selected a group of prospects, take choice 20
("File for DOS transfer"). Select contact 1/2/B as usual and
answer the "OK to continue?" with a Y. Within a few seconds,
you will see a message telling you the file PROSPECT.TXT is
ready and giving the count of names put into the file. Hit a
key to acknowledge this message.
You may now move this file to your Windows computer. To do this,
do the following steps:
Click "session" on the top of your screen
Clock "transfer" on the drop-down menu
Use the upper left box to find a directory (folder) where you
want to put the file on your computer. Double-click the
folder name and you will see the contents appear in the
top right window
Use the bottom right window to find the file prospect.txt
and left click it once
Click the "transfer" button on the right
Click OK to start the transfer; if the file already exists
on your Windows machine, you may see a message asking you
if it is OK to replace it.
Now that you have the file on your Windows machine, you should
be able to open it with almost any application, email it (we
suggesting zipping it first), or whatever. If you are sending
the file to somebody else (a mail house or whatever) we suggest
sending a copy of the file layout
along with it.
